Brian Barlay, L.Ac.

Brian has more than 30 years of experience in the healing arts. He received an Asian Studies degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1983 and has over 30 years of teaching and practicing Tai Chi that influence his acupuncture practice. He graduated from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco in 1991, and received post-graduate training at the Chengdu Teaching Hospital in Sichuan China. Brian was an Associate Professor on the faculty of the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College (AIMC) in Berkeley for more than ten years. He has been in private practice for 18 years, specializing in pain and orthopedics. He founded the Temescal Acupuncture Center in 2003, creating an integrative clinic to serve the North Oakland community and beyond.

Cara Brockbank, L.Ac

Cara received her Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine from Meiji College of San Francisco in 1997. After opening her acupuncture practice, she began her post-graduate studies in alternative and classical Taoist Chinese Medicine and trained in the traditional healing arts of Qi Gong and Chi Nei Tsang. Cara also studied under Susan Johnson, L.Ac., gaining practical knowledge of Master Tung's alternative acupuncture method, which allows her to treat many conditions with very few needles.Cara specializes in women's health and family medicine. Her goal is to provide her patients with an integrated approach to healing, considering all aspects of their physical and emotional state while helping them to reconnect with themselves.

 

 

Sydney Chute, MA, CMT

Sydney is a Certified Massage Therapist with a master's degree in Kinesiology. After completing her collegiate volleyball career she went on to coach at the Division I level. Her experience as an athlete and coach informs her massage practice. She specializes in therapeutic deep tissue massage, which accesses the deeper muscles while allowing them to release at their own pace. Sessions are tailored to meet each individual's specific needs. Different styles of massage are used for relaxation, decreasing pain, or stress relief. By creating a nurturing environment, Sydney provides bodywork that is both healing and calming.

 

 

Deborah Croan, L.Ac.

Deborah's work in the field of natural medicine started over 13 years ago. During that time, she earned a Master's of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed the National Certification and State licensing process. She then maintained an active practice on Piedmont Avenue, treating a variety of conditions while emphasizing pain management, compromised immunity and women's health. Deborah is celebrating her fourth year of practice by moving to Temescal Acupuncture Center and is enthusiastic about joining this collaborative setting. She is proud to be a part of a medicine so deeply rooted in ancient history yet still so profoundly useful in a complex modern world.

Bianca Di Giulio, L.Ac.

Bianca Di Giulio is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Certified Massage Therapist in Oakland, California. She has been committed to health and healing for over 10 years, beginning her path first as a social worker and massage therapist. Both professional experiences inspired her to pursue further studies in holistic health and wellness. She holds a degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley and practiced as a Bilingual Family Advocate and Program Manager at a nonprofit in a small Lake Tahoe community. Bianca studied in Japan to learn gentle acupuncture techniques and apprenticed for two years with a master herbalist and acupuncturist specializing in women's health. She is also a volunteer acupuncturist for the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic, which provides treatments for low-income women with cancer. In addition to acupuncture, Bianca's other passions include hiking, running, and sharing delicious meals with her vibrant Italian family.

Mary Gordon C.C.H., RSHom (NA)

Mary is a graduate of the Pacific Academy of Homeopathy and has been a practicing Classical Homeopath since 1995. She has a long history of working with families as a teacher of elementary school children, pre-school children and their families, and children and adults with special needs. These experiences have given her a keen awareness of children's developmental stages and the gentle, deep acting way of homeopathy in reestablishing balance at difficult transition times. Mary sees clients of all ages in her practice. She addresses everyday health conditions like colds and flu as well as sleep and allergy problems. She also treats more complex or chronic issues such as digestive problems, skin conditions, anxiety, depression and ADHD. Her nurturing and patient manner go a long way in supporting her clients on their path toward health and well-being.

Alysia McDonough NTP, CGP

Alysia is a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Cal Poly graduate with a BS in Nutritional Science.  She has worked in the nutrition field over 8 years with diverse populations that have health concerns and health issues such as fatigue, irritability, anxiety, weight gain, acid reflux, digestive disorders, diabetes, and skin problems.   Alysia has a deep caring for people and a desire to empower her clients and others to live healthier and more vibrant lives through holistic nutrition.  As a holistic nutritionist, Alysia assesses the body's nutritional deficiencies and addresses those weaknesses through diet, lifestyle changes, and supplements if needed.  She believes eating food should be delicious, social, and pleasurable and promotes eating real, traditional, nourishing, and whole foods as a lifestyle.  Alysia is also a Certified Gut and Psychology Practitioner trained to naturally treat ADD, ADHD, autism, depression, allergies and other neurological and psychological problems through diet.
